A mood has been submitted against Petco, the pet shop chain is true of its shareholders who claim that the company overestimated its “Opportunity to deliver sustainable, profitable growth”.
Quotes from the mood …
“Petco represented that it was uniquely positioned to take advantage of the previous trends and drive a sustainable, profitable growth based on its alleged differentiated business strategy centered around, among other things, healthy, premium pets that do not contain any artificial ingredients.”
“But unlike Petco's representations, when Pandemi-related back winds eventually decreased, the company's sales and profitability metrics began to decline. Specifically, as early as mid-2023, the company's financial results took a remarkable trip to the worse.”
“Responding Overrated PETCO's ability to deliver sustainable, profitable growth and (V) as a result were defending public statements substantially false and misleading at all relevant times.”
The lawsuit claims that Petco's stock prices fell from $ 5.19 per share on August 24, 2023 to $ 2.78 per share on June 6, 2025.

Something to think about …
Who would you rather buy pet food from? A chain shop that is guilty of its shareholders – or an independent pet shop whose attention is focused on its customers?
My answer: 100% independent pet shops.
Many independently owned pet stores know every detail about every product they sell. Research most thoroughly every brand they sell, and if they do not know the answer to your question – they have a direct line to the manufacturer to get an answer. Many shop owners have shared with us that they control the temperature for each transport of frozen foods (before it has even been unloaded from the delivery car). If the pet food is not completely frozen, the broadcast is refused. A shop owner told us that they ask each manufacturer that they are considering whether pet food brand owns a copy of AAFCO's official publication (Pet Food Regulations Book). Of course, many independent pet shops have done their homework.
Ask your pet shop what research is done on every brand they sell. You can be very surprised at their response (and become a loyal customer in independent pet shops).
