From a general Mills (parent company to Blue Buffalo) press release: “Blue Buffalo – the most loved and reliable natural pet food brand in the United States – enters fresh pet food with the national launch of “Love Made Fresh”, and offers pet parents more ways to love and feed their pets as a family. “
Blue Buffalo says their new products will be released later this year.
This movement by Blue Buffalo follows a similar fresh food food product by Mars Petcare Royal Canin.
So why does Big Pet Feed come into the market for fresh pets? If you can't beat them, go with them.
Or it could be $$$.
From the market research company Technavio, “The fresh pet food market in the size of the US is estimated to grow by $ 3.2 billion from 2025-2029 …”
But what about the veterinarians who not so long ago referred to fresh pet foods as “boutique“Warned pet owners against them?

General Mills is a human food mark. The question will be … will general Mills produce a fresh pet food for human quality, or will General Mills produce a pet food? When the products are released, we will learn more.
However, be aware that when more large manufacturers enter the market for fresh pets – pet owners will have no guarantee that their products will be manufactured with ingredients of human qualities. We can certainly assume that these products – since many of the highly processed pet foods – will contain misleading images of grilled or roasted meat when the actual product contains nothing similar.
We (Association for Truth in Pet Food) asked the FDA three years ago to demand the disclosure of the quality of the ingredients on pet food labels (reveal feed quality or human quality ingredient). Our request was based on the federal legal requirements that two foods (such as examples of chicken and feed chicken for human quality may not have “Confusingly similar” name. Three years later, we are still waiting for their response.
Ask your pet manufacturer if ingredients is human quality/human edible or feed quality. Buy your pet foods from local independent pet shops that have already done the homework on every brand they sell.
