When is the National Dachshund Day?
Also known as Wiener Dog Day and World Dachshund Day, National Dachshund Day Is a holiday about celebrating dachshunds and everything about them! The holiday takes place every year on June 21st. Want to know why this holiday takes place on 21? It's the longest day of the year!
What is National Dachshund Day?
Originally started in Australia In order to celebrate dachshunds and spread awareness of the breed, its history and its conservation through ethical breeding methods. Now celebrated all over the world by Doxie fans everywhere, the holiday has become a staple for every cork-scheduled annual schedule!
Why are Dachshunds so special?
Ask a dachshund -lovers why these dogs are so special, and they will list a number of things: they are cute, they are smart, they have amazing personalities … instead, let's talk about the story of this unique breed.
Dachshund Has been around for over 600 years and was originally bred as a swimming hunt dogs in Germany. Badgers are, of course, cunning creatures like graves underground, so Dachshunds must be strong excavators who could navigate in tight excavation tunnels and surpass them to capture their prey.
How to celebrate Dachshund Day
So you're ready to celebrate Dachshund Day, but how do you do it? Check out these four tips to give your doxie special treatment on their personal vacation:
1. Get dig
Dachshunds love to dig. If you live somewhere where you can get dirt or snow, let your doxie go wild and dig to the content of their heart! Create a special excavation area For your dog is ideal for helping to prevent your doxie from digging up the garden. To do it, get a plastic pool and fill it with pot or snow. Fill it deep enough to allow your doxie to dig in tunnels. If you want to make a more permanent pit, create a small hole and fill it with loose soil. Surround the hole with bricks or stones to mark the area of your doxie!
