Kohl Harrington (producer of the documentary pet cheated, newly trained law school) was emailed with Erin Bubb from Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The subject of these e -mail messages was the vague Aafco definitions of raw, HPP pet food and freeze -dried (for example, a kibble pet food claiming 'raw -coated').
MS Bubb should be very familiar with these products and definitions because she is an official in the state and she is chairman of Aafco's ingredient definition committee. But when e -mail messages went back and forth – MS Bubb could not/would not give an explanation as to why claims such as “raw kibble” may mislead consumers.
Since Kohl Harrington did not give up his questions, the tone IE post messages from MS Bubb began to change.
MS BUBB's attitude in her e -mail messages changed so much that Kohl addressed the “attitude” by saying: “Your tone in previous response came across as rejection and unprofessional – especially to a member of the public who raises a serious concern about product fire and food safety.”
And then AFCO's ingredient definition committee chair/Pennsylvania State Feed officer responded with this …
“It was just for you, Kohl Harrington. After all these years, if you have not yet learned that we can be more implemented by working together than offering the rude, pompous, overblown version of what you think you are, you will never learn. “
MS Bubb offered cruel, insulting words that were intentional; “Just for you, Kohl Harrington”. She suggested they would work together – but in the same sense called kohl a “Rude, Pompous, over-inflated version of what you think you are”.
Can you ever work with someone who calls you a “Rude, Pompous, over-inflated version of what you think you are”?
No – you can't. These words were not intended for a future to work together. These words were intended to put a consumer advocate in their place. These words were intended to silence.
For many years of attempts to cooperate with regulatory authorities (FDA and state feed officials) – their attitude towards consumer/consumer advocates has been consistently dismissive. “We know what is best for you – don't question us.” And if you dare to question them/questions – you are greeted with snoring insults or they simply refuse to communicate with you. “Don't ask us.”
As far as I know (and Kohl has shared hundreds of e -post communication with me during the many years we have been friends) Kohl Harrington has never been rude to a regulatory authority. Kohl has never used verbal abuse even though he has been treated so unfairly.
For me, I have grazing my lip on more than one occasion when I was badly treated by the FDA, an Aafco representative or a state feed officer. I have never treated them as they have treated me.
History has shown us that it is impossible to “work with” regulation. History has proven that they do not intend to work with consumers in the best of our pets. For most of them, they do not respect consumers, they are not even civilians for consumers. History says we have to take a different attitude.
And we will.
We reported Erin Bubb's abusive behavior to the PA Ministry of Agriculture and to Aafco.
